What gets you hired might get another fired.
Have you ever thought about this?
A colleague of mine was praised for his innovative approach to patient care.
He streamlined processes, reduced waiting times, and improved patient satisfaction scores.
His efforts received well-deserved recognition.
However, a nurse was let go because her traditional methods didn’t fit the new ‘efficient’ model.
The reality is that what works for one person may not work for another, and that’s the irony of progress.
So, how can you ensure you are not on the wrong side of change at work?
Here are some thoughts:
1️⃣ Adaptability
→ Change is constant.
↳ Embrace it, don’t resist it.
2️⃣ Continuous Learning
→ Healthcare, like many fields, is ever-evolving.
↳ Never stop learning.
3️⃣ Empathy
→ Understand that everyone’s role is crucial.
↳ What seems outdated to you might be someone’s lifeline.
4️⃣ Collaboration
→ Foster teamwork.
↳ A multidisciplinary approach often yields the best outcomes.
5️⃣ Innovation with Caution
→ While innovation is vital, be mindful of its impact.
↳ Change should uplift, not uproot.
In our pursuit of excellence, let’s remember to support one another rather than outpace or outshine each other.
So, in whatever industry you are, remember:
What gets you hired today shouldn’t lead to someone else being fired tomorrow.
Let’s create workplaces where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
